Dr. Eleni Gaki is an Associate Professor specializing in “Statistical Methods in Regional Analysis” at the Department of Business Administration of the University of the Aegean. She is a graduate of the Department of Business Administration of the University of the Aegean and holds a PhD in Economic and Regional Analysis with the title “The effect of transport networks and geographical discontinuity on regional development” from the same Department.
Since 2010 she was elected a Lecturer at the Department of Business Administration of the University of the Aegean, she has taught at undergraduate and postgraduate level a number of courses including Methods of Regional Analysis, Statistics, Data Analysis, Sustainable Development, Economic Geography and Business Location, Methodology Research. She has also taught at the MBA Graduate Program of the Hellenic Open University as well as at the MSc Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Tourism at the University of West Attica. She is a member of the Collaborating Teaching Staff at the Hellenic Open University (EAP), in the study program Public Administration, in the thematic section Regional Development and Regional Inequalities. She has participated in 18 research projects.
Her research interests focus on key issues of regional development, emphasizing the use of statistical methods and techniques for its study. In particular, her focus is on issues of regional resilience, sustainable development, the study of smart cities, the study of the impact of transport and IT and communication technologies on regional development, spatial analysis of economic activities, spatial behavior of industries such as tourism. She has a total of 67 publications, of which 17 are in peer-reviewed journals, 3 chapters in books and 50 in conference proceedings. She has also edited 1 book and chapters in 2 books.
